Nicholas Hyggenson was born Abt. 1510, and died 1581 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England.

He married Elizabeth (of Claybrook) ? Hyggenson in Leicester, Leicestershire, England. She died January 30, 1610/11 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England.[1]

Notes for Nicholas Hyggenson: Leicester is located in Central England about an hour north of Oxford, England or 90 miles northeast of London.

Elizabeth (Unknown) Hyggenson

Children of Nicholas Hyggenson and Elizabeth Hyggenson are:

Thomas3 Higginson, born Abt. 1540 in Berkswell, Warwicks, Ireland; died 1573.
Nicholas (of Liere) Hyggenson, born in Leire; died September 10, 1588.
Reverend John Higginson, born in Leicester, Leicestershire, England; died February 10, 1623/24 in Leicester, Leicestershire, England.

Note: Named in father's will in 1541 living in Cotton in Wem in Shropshire. Named in brother Thomas' will in 1573. Several online trees, presumably following Putnam, suggest that he is the father of Nicholas Higginson of Liere (d 1589 will), Leicestershire and Rev. John Higginson of Claybrook, Leicestershire (d 1624 will). The two parishes are adjoining and located 25km NE of Coventry. This seems likely. Some online trees give his wife as Elizabeth (d 30 Jan 1610-11 Leicester. A Nicholas Higginson was buried at Claybrooke, Leicester 11/4/1581 which could be him. The Elizabeth Higginson buried at Claybrooke 30/1/1612 might be his wife.

  • "A Nicholas Higginson, perhaps this one, was buried at Claybrooke in April 1581. Until additional evidence is found, the relationship between Nicholas and John is regarded as a working hypothesis."[2]
