Thomas was born in County Wexford, son of Thomas Higginson and Mary Colley, in 1722.
He was educated by Dr Arnot and entered Trinity College Dublin on 27 January, 1739 [1740], aged 17, Scholarship 1743, B.A. 1744. [1]

The house in which the Rev. Thomas Higginson resided at Ballinderry is marked "Woodbrook" in Taylor and Skinner's Road Map of Ireland.
The Rev. Thomas Higginson must have resigned the living of Lisburn long before he died, as his successor was appointed in 1781.
He died in 1789 and is buried in the graveyard of the Middle Church, Ballinderry. [2]
