Charles Higginson was born in Ireland and graduated from Dublin University. He came to the United States in 1834 and taught in colleges and seminaries in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Kentucky. He was ordained a deacon in the Episcopal Church at Lexington. Later he was in charge of a church in Shelbyville, Kentucky. He returned to Ireland where he taught school and started a family. In 1850 he brought his family to the USA, first to Marshall County, Indiana and then to Cass Co., Illinois. [1]
