Samuel was born 1882 and was the son of Samuel Higgs and Lavinia (Terrell) Higgs[1]
Samuel married Violet Hughes in 1905.[2]
In 1911 they are living at 230 Castle Street, Dunedin.
In the 1914 Electoral roll, Samuel's occupation is listed as Labourer. In the 1914 WWI New Zealand Army Nominal Rolls Samuel is listed in the Otago Infantry Battalion, living at 13 Thomas Burns Street Dunedin[3]
His occupation is listed as Maltster which is the making of malt and brewing of beer. [4]
Samuel Higgs died in Dunedin 1920 age 38 years on the same day as his brother-in-law William (Rogers) Rodgers.
HlGGS.—On,August 22. 1920, at Dunedin Hospital, Samuel, dearly, beloved husband of Violet Beatrice Higgs, of 93 Frederick street, Dunedin, and dearly beloved only son of Samuel and Levina Higgs, of 258 Castle street; aged 38 years.
