John High was born in Schuykill near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In June, 1780 he was drafted to serve in the Revolutionary War. He was discharged in Nov. 1781, and re-enlisted in 1788 to defend settlements along the Ohio River against Indians.
He moved to Warren county, Indiana in 1839.
John married Mary Ann Smith before 1797 in Hampshire county, Virginia.
Their children included: George, Henry, Isaac, Nimrod, John, Hiram, Catharine and Christena.
John married (2) Nancy Sullivan in 1827 in Ross county, Ohio.
Their children were: Amaziah and Julian.
