James Higham was born in Wigan, Lancashire, England.

James Andrew Bolton Higham was born in 1838 ^[1] in Wigan, Lancashire, England, the son of James Higham and Margaret Halliwell.

In 1851 he was living with his parents and siblings on Aughton Street, Ormskirk, Lancashire.^[2]

Went to Australia in about 1867 with his two brothers.

MARRIAGE: HIGHAM - WICKS. On 23rd June. at St. James's Cathedral Melbourne, by the Rev. M. H. Bircher, Mr. James Andrew Bolton Higham, of the Herald office, to Mary Ann, eldest surviving daughter of the late Richard Wicks, Esq., of Melbourne. ^[3]

DEATH: HIGHAM.—On the 27th inst., at her residence, 1 Eastwood street, Newmarket, Victoria, Catherine Mary, the dearly-beloved wife of James Andrew Bolton Higham and daughter of the late John Nolan, Esq., of Corbalton, Westmeath, Ireland, aged 35 years, after a painful illness during the past 12 months. ^[6]

DEATH: HIGHAM.—On the 16th inst., at her father's residence, 270 Ascotvale-road Ascotvale, Katherine Margaret, youngest and best beloved daughter of James Andrew Bolton and Catherine Higham, after 16 weeks' illness, in her 12th year. "She has joined the Cherubim." ^[7]
