Sylvia was born about 1784. She is the daughter of Seth Higley and Lucy Herod.

Sylvia Higley, the fourth child of Seth and Lucy Herod Higley was born in Saratoga County, New York, about 1784. She married Benjamin Collins of Cayuga County in her native State.
She died leaving two daughters, Nancy and Sylvia Collins.
Sylvia was listed in the deposition of Daniel King for the probate of Sylvia's father, Seth King, in a record in 7 October 1830.[1]

Deposition: Daniel King states of the town of Mentz states that Seth Higley died on the fifth day of September last in the said town of Mentz, that the deceased left a widow, Lucy Higley of the said town, and the following children his heirs at law ... and names the children, their spouses, and the children of deceased children.
