DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Laura by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Laura:

Thanks for adding DNA confirmation statements to this profile. Your second statement, which confirms his relationship to his father is fine. But the first statement says that Laura herself is one of the MRCAs of the matching test takers. Matching DNA tests of 3rd cousins and closer can only be used to confirm BACK TO the Most Recent Common Ancestors (MRCAs) of the two matching test takers, but not to parents/other more distant ancestors of the MRCAs.

I’ve changed the ‘confirmed with DNA’ entry to her mother to ‘confident’ for you. Please let me know if you don't understand or if you have any questions. Thanks! Oops! Because of the privacy level on this profile, I can't change her relationship to her mother to 'confident'. Would you please do that. Thanks!

Alan, Thanks for the private message you sent me. As I wrote in my response to your private message, the above statement is not appropriate. Here is comment I should have left for you:

Please see the [new] comment I left on Higley-310, explaining why your second DNA confirmation statement cannot be used to confirm her relationship to her parents (because it refers to a match of 3C1R and would actually require triangulation). The first DNA confirmation statement on the profile indicates that Laura and her husband are the MRCAs for the two matching test takers. Any time you are using matching DNA test to confirm relationships, you can only use that match to confirm relationships back to the MRCAs. You can never use a DNA match to confirm the relationship of one of the MRCAs to his/her own parents.

Alan,

The information you have provided in the two confirmation statements is not sufficient to mark her relationship to either parent 'confirmed with DNA'. Please change each of them to 'confident'. Let me know if you don't understand, or have questions. Thanks!
