Biography

Milton Hildreth was born in 1841 in New York, the son of Jonathan Hildreth and his wife Julia. He died on August 8, 1920, at King, Waupaca, Wisconsin, and is buried at the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King, Waupaca, Wisconsin: Plot: SECTION 2 ROW 12 SITE 5.[1] He was a corporal in Company "E," 12th Wisconsin Infantry in the US Civil War.

In 1850, Jonathan "Witdrith", a 54 year old shoe maker b. New York, lived with his wife Julia A., 41 b. New York, and seven Hildreth children b. New York: Rhoda, 20; Allen B., 18; William L., 15; Charles L., 12; Melton M., 10; Ann V., 5; and Mary N., 3.[2]

In 1855, Johnathan Hildreth, a shoe maker, 58 b. Montgomery County, lived in De Witt, Onondaga, New York, with his wife Julian, 44 b. Saratoga County, and eight younger Hildreths all born in Onandaga County: Rhoda, 24; Allen, 22; Wm L., 19; Charles, 16; Milton, 14; Ann, 10; Mary, 7; and Julia, 0-7/12.[3]

In 1860, J Hildreth, a 63 year old farmer, lived , in Fairfield, Sauk, Wisconsinwith his wife Julia, 49, and five younger Hildreths; Chas., 21; Milton, 19; Ann, 15; Mary, 12; and Julia, 5. All were born in New York.[4]

Milton enlisted in Company E, Wisconsin 12th Infantry Regiment on 07 September 1861, and was mustered out on 16 Jul 1865.[5]

In 1895, Milton M. Hildreth was living in alone in La Crosse, La Crosse, Wisconsin.[6]

In 1905, Milton M. Hildreth, 64 b. New York, was living at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home at Farmington, Waupaca, Wisconsin. His parents were born in New York.[7]

In 1910, Milton M. Hildreth was single, 69 b. New York, was living at the Wisconsin Veteran's Home at Farmington. Both of his parents were born in New York.[8]

Milton died on 8 Aug 1920.[9] He is buried at the Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King, Waupaca, Wisconsin: Plot: SECTION 2 ROW 12 SITE 5[10] You can see a picture of his gravestone at FindAGrave.
