Biography

Date of Birth

Based on the fact that, in an agreement by his brother Zebulon Hill Jr made in September 1690, his brother Zebulon agreed to pay 1/2 of the cost of raising his "youngest brother Benjamin Hill" until he reached the age of 14,^[1] Benjamin was born sometime after September 1676. However, since his presumed mother, Elizabeth (Dike) Hill was baptized in February 1632/3 and was thus 43 in September 1676, he was probably not born much after that date.^[2] It seems likely that Elizabeth (Dike) Hill, rather than a second wife of Zebulon Hill Sr, was, in fact, Benjamin's mother, since (1) the birth record for his next older sibling (Sara in 1675) states that her mother's name was Elizabeth^[3] and (2) there is no evidence that Zebulon had a second wife.

Date of Death

Based on the fact that Benjamin was not mentioned in the March 29, 1699 will of his father, Zebulon Hill Sr, Benjamin very probably died sometime before that date.
