Anna Nellie (or Nancy) Rowland Holt Hill Allee was born on May 31, 1806, in Sussex, Virginia,[1] to Isaac Hill[2] and Mildred Hines.[3] She was the first wife of Revolutionary War patriot William Allee, to whom she was married by a Baptist Minister, with the consent of her father, in Barren County, Kentucky, on January 7, 1820. (The license was issued on December 24, 1819). [2] She bore her husband at least four sons (descendants of whom applied for DAR membership) before her death on September 16, 1845, in California, Moniteau County, Missouri.[1] At least one daughter and four additional sons are suggested by other researchers.[4] There are tales stating that Granny Hill lived to be 105 years old. If that where true, she would have live beyond the 1850 census. I never could find her on a 1850 census anywhere in the country. Until proof show up I will not be putting much stock of her living to be 105. There is one interesting bit of information about Mildred "Granny: Hines and her husband, Isaac Hill. they both have the same. great-grandmother but different great-grandfathers. Mildred, Granny, Hill is buried in the cemetery of her son, the Sandy Hill Cemetery.
Pages 94-95, Rev. David Allee: "...William married Anna Hill. After the Allee families got settled, William and Nicholas, both of whom had married daughters of Mildred Hines "Granny" Hill, returned to Kentucky and brought their mother-in-law and the remainder of her family, including six sons to this county. They settled on land next to that of the Allee's. "Granny" Hill, whose husband died in Kentucky, became the origin of most of the Hill families in this vicinity."
