3› Godfrey Hill [1656.2.3] (-1761), with slave Bett, was a tithable in Chesterfield County in 1756. Hill, a defendant in a court martial, paid his fine in October 1760.
Godfrey married Edith Clarke. He left a will in Chesterfield that remembering Edith and naming two children (will dated 21 Dec. 1760, recorded 1 May 1761).
Chesterfield County appointed Henry Hatcher the guardian to the young orphans in May 1768 and ordered the division of Godfrey’s estate in September 1774. Edith was Hatcher’s wife 13 October 1780 when together they sold land in Chesterfield County.[1]
