William B HILL [1] was born 15 May 1825 in Knox, Ohio, United States.
William married [2] Rhoda BEEM 11 Feb 1877 in Jackson, Indiana, United States.
William died 24 Oct 1904 in Lawrence, Indiana, United States.
In 1845, he came with his older brother Jesse, to, what is now the crossroads of Leesville, Sparksville and Proctor Roads.
They were the sons of Miciah and Barbara Halterman Hill, who lived in Bellville, Ohio.
Jesse was married and had children when they settled at this location. They were carpenters and built furniture, some of which is still in use in the Hill families.
The location is owned by Jerry Plummer, a great grandson of William Hill, and a great-great-grandaughter Diane Plummer McCory, and family, who live there.
In 1848 William purchased 80 acres. The farm now consists of 200 acres and is owned by James W. Hill and Mary Hill Beavers. James and family, a great-grandson of William, lives there now, 1988.
April 12, 1849, William married Henryetta Foster. A son William Miciah, was born and Henryetta died soom after.
October 9, 1853, William married Arminia McKaigg. Their seven children were Robert, who died as an infant, Elizabeth, Mary, James, Francis, Sarah, Jesse was a blacksmith at Leesville, before moving to Bedford, Olive, whose daughter, Goldie Hunsucker, attended the 1987 Hill reunion, at 97, and told of experiences at Grandpa Hill's (William).
After the death of his second wife, William married Rhoda Trueblood Beem, February 11, 1877. At the time Rhoda had a son, Claude Hinderlider and two daughters, Alice and Selby Beem. Alice married Lockman and Selby married Jim Star. They lived in a large house overlooking Sparksville.
To William and Rhoda were born Arminia, Styles and Laurel Hill. June 22, 1902, Arminia married Curtis Plummer. Their children were Carl, the Ford Tractor dealer in Jackson County for many years, Verlin, a well known farmer and feed salesman, Nellie, a school teacher, And Stacey lived with his parents.
January 8, 1908, Styles married Fannie Gillen. Their children were, Cynthia, a school teacher, Cecil, John and Frank, all farmers in Carr Township.
December 25, 1906, Laurel married Edna Blair. Their children were Nolan, Lucian, Edwin Ross, and Herman Eugene.
Nolan and Ross are retired from Cummins. Lucian, a retired carpenter, is deceased. Herman is a railroader and farmer. All live in Vallonia area.
Most of the land originally owned by William and Jesse Hill remain in the family.[3]
