Biography

Mattie L. Buchanan was born on October 29, 1871, in Georgia. She married John W. A. Lashley on December 18, 1895, in Fulton, Georgia.^[1] They had two children:

• William T. Joe (1901–1960)
• Weldon (1903–1920)^[2]

John died before 1940^[3] and Mattie moved to LA with her son's family where she died on July 1, 1960, in Los Angeles, California,^[4] at the age of 88.^[5]

Her maiden name listed on Weldon's death certificates is Hill, I do not know why; the marriage license states her name as "Miss Mattie Buchanan."
