George was born in 1819. He was the son of Joel Hill and Elizabeth Soules. He passed away in 1895. Uncle George was the husband of Mary Belinda Best. He is buried near his nephew, James Penndleton Hill and some of his children. Emma Sasser (Mrs. Calvin Sasser) and Viola Hill. His daughter, Charity is also buried there, along with some of his grandchildren. George was the son of Joel Hill, Jr. and Elizabeth Ann Soules Hill. George was a minister and served in or started many Churches in Columbus County and Horry County, SC. He was the oldest child and had 2 siblings, Leannah Hill Williams & Armelin Bryant Hill. George and his brother, Armelin, married sisters, children of John and Elizabeth Register Best. George was a Hard Worker and studied much of his childhood, becoming a minister when he was quite young and after he retired from the ministry, a school teacher. He died of the flu in 1895 and this epidemic also took his oldest daughter, Charity and her husband, John J. Long. Charity and John are buried near George in Unmarked graves.
