Florence HILL was born in Drumaness , County Down, Ireland in 1903. She was the son of William HILL and Florence BAIN. The name "Flossie" was provided as a daughter for Florence BAIN by family sources in 1982. Several official records also record her name (and her mother's) as "Florrie."
Florence's father, William HILL appears to have died about 1906. The 1911 census shows that her mother Florence has remarried to a fellow widower, Alexander GABBEY, to form a melded family. They are now living in Belfast (Ormeau Road).

Florence's brother John dies at age 12 in 1913. Her brother Irwin dies at age 15 in 1918. She is the only descendent of her deceased father still alive.
At age 14, Florence's family immigrated to the United States. She travelled with her mother, and step sisters Helen and Agnes via the Kaiserin Augusta Victoria, leaving Liverpool on September 25, 1920. Her step father and step brother had left on the same ship in April of 1920.
Florence married Clarence Raymond PETERSON when she was 18 on May 1,1924 according to her Connecticut, Federal Naturalization Records. Her son, Robert William PETERSON, was born in 1936.
U.S. City Directories show her and her husband living at the same address in Connecticut for over 50 years. Clarence passed away in 1982 and Florence in 1987. They are both interred at East Cemetery in Manchester, Hartford County, Connecticut.
