Alan was born in 1929. Alan Hill ... He passed away in 1964.
MY father was a quiet man, soft spoken, loved the outdoors hunting or fishing, loved his family, taking us on picnic's out to a place he called the range (the old national guard shooting range),there were large apple trees with very large green apples that two of them would make a large pie.
He loved to help out anyone that needed it,so much so, he joined the volunteer fire department in WINOOSKI where we lived. This is where and how he died, responding to a fire call, he arrived on scene and found that everyone was out safe, all but the baby in back in his crib, the house was fully engulfed but he was going in, some of his fellow firefighters tried to stop him,but he said if you had a baby you would go into, he entered and a short time later the main wall fell in and covered both of them. They later found him, he had made it up to the crib before the wall crushed them both.
