The biography for Leslie Hiller is empty. What can you add? Hmmm "What can I add?" since this is my biography I believe I can add a lot about myself and immediate Family. There are some facts that were hidden and some that continue to be hidden, I am sure I will find answers for most of those hidden facts behind brick walls as I am an excellent researcher and digging through the mountains of paper/screens is something I love doing.
First off, our surname, Hiller, is a name that my great grandmother, Kate (Whitcomb) Szendeffy, gave my father, John Whitcomb, at the beginning of World War II due to his given surname on his birth certificate being "Hellar" and during that time period having a German surname would be problematic especially for a young boy during the war. This is all well and good but someone neglected to tell my father that his last name had been changed during the war and, of course, it was done without legal consent. It was not until 1963/4 that the name change became known because he began working for Saturn 5 and they did a thorough background check, something the Army neglected to do. Plus, by that time he had married and had 3 children with the Hiller name. In 1964, our last name Hiller became legal and my youngest brother, John Edward, was the only legitimate child born.
