Prior to adoption by Cathy Hoover, someone placed in this profile information about birth and death places without any proof for the claims. It was claimed that John Hilliard was born in Gravesend, Kent, England and died in 1683 in Somerset County, Maryland. Even if a baptismal, or birth, record for a John Hilliard in England was found, that does not prove he was the same John Hilliard in Surry County, Virginia in the 1660's. Many John Hilliards lived in England during the 17th century and multiple John Hilliard's traveled from England in the 1600s per ship logs, Virginia death lists etc.
Even if a death record for a John Hilliard was found in Maryland (If so, It should be cited), without additional supporting facts it can't be claimed to belong to the John Hilliard of this profile. It seems unlikely that he would move far to the north of his Surry County, Virginia home late in life, leaving other family. I.E. it is more likely a different John Hilliard (if there is in fact a Maryland death record).
It has also been claimed, on non Wikitree sites, that John Hilliard arrived in American via various ships from England. Two John Hilliards are often claimed to be this one based on passenger lists for the ships "Mathew" (1635) and "Expedition" (1635), but they actually were sent to the Caribbean islands of St Kitts (formerly St Christopher) and Barbadoes. [1]. Another site claimed John went to Virginia aboard the "Expedition" in November 1633, but the claim confused the "Expedition" with the two ships "Ark" and "Dove" that actually made the trip. A John Hilliard was on that voyage too and the ships, battered by two major storms, first landed in the Barbadoes, then sailed north to Virginia, then to Maryland. [2][3] The John Hilliard on the Ark apparently arrived in Maryland, where he patented land. [4][5]
That is only a sampling of the John Hilliards that came to the Americas in the proper time period. In fact, there were at least two John Hilliards listed in the early death lists for Virginia. And there were undoubtedly many more, because there are no longer passenger lists for many voyages.

I didn't create this profile. I adopted it and had not done anything to it. I changed the dates to estimates since it would not let me totally delete them.
