[St Nicholas] Burials parish of Brighthelmston Sussex 1816 Thos Hillman No 278 of ?Russell? Row Novr 24th Yrs 48
Fairly certain having found death records with an age that matches the date of birth that ties to Thomas Hillman baptised 7 August 1768 at St Mary de Hausa, New Shoreham, Sussex, son of Nathaniel Hillman c.1742 and Ann Frost c.1744. Noting this Thomas names his first three sons Thomas Henry and Nathaniel and that the brothers of Thomas from New Shoreham are Nathaniel 1770-1771, Nathaniel c.1785 and Henry c.1787. Subsequent to finding this, found in national archives proposal from Stephen Brown, husband of his sister Sarah, for emigration to Eastern Cape, South Africa that includes three of Thomas' children (application was turned down but Stephen and Sarah were 1820 settlers as part of another party).
