Reverend Enos B. Hilton moved from Virginia to Missouri around 1840. His brother William also moved his family to Missouri around the same time. Enos settled in Barry County and William settled in Taney County. The Hilton Cemetery near Scholten, Missouri, gets its name because it was part of the old Enos Hilton farm. Enos passed away in November of 1884 and was buried on the farm which he loved so much. Enos and his sons, William, John Anderson, James, Matthew and Martin, were Federals during the Civil War. Land for the cemetery (Hilton cemetery) was donated by Enos Hilton, and the majority of the people buried there are direct descendants of the Hilton family.
