Sir Godfrey HIlton, of Irnham, Lincolnshire, Hooton Pagnell, Yorkshire, Gamston and Bridgeford-by-Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, etc. was born on November 9, 1419 (aged 40 in 1459) the son and heir of Godfrey Hilton and Hawise Luttrell.[1][2]
In 1463 he sued the Mayor and Corporation of London for an illegal entry into seven messuages in the parish of St. Sepulchre in the Ward of Farringdon Without, London.[1][2]
He married probably in 1453, Margery Willoughby, daughter of Hugh Willoughby, Knt., of Wollarton, Nottinghamshire, and Middleton, Warwickshire. They had one son, Godfrey, Esq., and two daughters, Elizabeth and Hawise (wife of Lawrence Breuern, Gent.).[1][2]
Richardson grants his ancestors the de jure title Lord Luttrell but they held manors (with Hooton Pagnell apparently a feudal barony) and were not summoned to Parliament; Godfrey was the heir general of this family and theoretically the Barony created in 1295.
Through the families of Hilton, Thimbleby and Conquest, Irnham passed to Mary Christina Arundell (1764-1805) who m. James Everard Arundell, 9th Baron Arundell of Wardour. Mary and her sister Eleanor (1766-1835) who m. Charles Clifford, 6th Baron Clifford of Chudleigh would have been the senior heirs to the Barony of Luttrell.
