DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Richard by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Richard:

Hilton-2520 and Hilton-928 appear to represent the same person because: these have been sitting as unmerged matches for over three years. They appear to be duplicates. Neither has any sources. Please merge or find sources to indicate they are different people and add to their bios. Thanks.
As far as I can see, the information that keeps being quoted about Richard Hilton's origins comes from a book called "The history of the Samuel Jones family" book 2 by Hazel Parker Jones, pp 281-2. I haven't seen the book myself, just references to it. "It has been said that Richard Hilton, the ancestor of all Hiltons of Chesterfield, Lancaster and Kershaw counties, S. C.,was born in Pennsylvania about 1720. (one says 1710)." The same source relays evidence that two sons were born in Virginia ~1744 (based on statements of Isaac and William when they joined the American Revolutionary forces, 1 July 1775).

That's the best I can offer, but it's not reliable EITHER. See http://books.google.com/books?iddChWAAAAMAAJ&focussearchwithinvolume&q=%22+Hiltons+of+Chesterfield%22

Hi. I'm a descendant, and an administrator of the Helton DNA project https://www.familytreedna.com/public/Helton/default.aspx?section=yresults

As far as I know there is NO documentation ANYWHERE as to his parents. I wonder if reference to his parents here can be removed. Is there ANY documentation for the given name Cornel? If not, that should be removed. He was certainly not known by that name in South Carolina.

As far as I can tell, Info that his wife was BETSY MYERS is from http://genforum.genealogy.com/hilton/messages/1693.html Bil Brasington -he gives no source, and has not responded to inquiries.

Hilton-928 and Hilton Helton-1 appear to represent the same person because: I believe these profiles represent the same person.
