Biography

Patten Himrod was born in 1839 to David Himrod and Abigail Patten Himrod.

He enlisted as a Private in the 2nd Infantry Regiment of the United States Army on 1860-Jul-3 at St. Louis, recruited by Lt. Ruggles. He is noted as having blue eyes, brown hair, a fair complexion and height of 5 foot 5 1/2 inches. He was discharged 1862-Jul-21 by order of the Secretary of War.

He passed away in 1902.

Service from The Story of a Thousand

Prior to joining the 105th O.V.I., Patten served for two years as a private in Company A of the 2nd U.S.I. He mustered in to Company A of the 105th O.V.I. on 1862-Aug-1 at age 23 as 1st Sergeant and he was promoted to 2d Lieutenant 1863-Jan-15. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant of Company C on 1863-Mar-28. Then he was promoted to Captain of Company E on 1863-Jul-10 where he served until his resignation on 1865-May-5. [1]
