There seems to be general agreement that this John Hinckley was born 28 Jul 1700, a son of Martha (Lathrop) Hinckley (1677-1737) and Samuel Hinckley Sr (1670-1751). The location of his birth, however, is not certain, as the only reference shows no image of a record [1].
Tradition has it that John Hinckley came to Stonington and bought a large tract of land with Henry Cobb, son of Deac. Henry of Barnstable, which they owned together until 1717 when they divided it.
He married 3 Mar 1725, Elizabeth Breed, with whom he had 3 children [2],[3]:
