Biography
- Edwin was born in 1828 in Georgia, Vermont, the son of Ira and Sarah (Hale) Hinckley. His mother died shortly after Edwin was born. His father married later that year, 1829, to Phebe Martin.
In 1850, the Hinckley family lived in Georgia, Vermont. The household included Ira Hinckley, 65, a farmer, born in Connecticut, with $2340 in real estate; his (2nd) wife, Phebe, 53, b. VT; and two of Ira’s children (from his 1st wife), both b. VT, Sarah M., 40; and Edwin H., 22, a farmer. Also living with the Hinckley family were Daniel Barnard, 15, b. Ireland, a laborer; and Ellen Eustah, 14, b. Ireland. [1]
- Edwin married Lydia Buckley. He died in 1891. [2]
