Biography

The given name "Talitha" may seem unusual but it has a Biblical origin. The name is an Aramaic word and means "little girl". It can be found in the Book of Mark when Christ resurrected a dead child saying, "Little girl, I say to you, arise."[1] The name was popular in the Harrison Daniels family who had two Talitha grand-daughters. One was Talitha Daniels, daughter of Hiram Daniels and the other was Talitha Hinds, the daughter of Martha (Daniels) Hinds. The two Talitha's were first cousins.

Talitha Hinds was born 3 Oct 1896 in Wayne County, West Virginia the daughter of Elias Hinds and Martha Daniels.^[1][2]

She married first Arnold E. Bivens. He died in 1960. Her second husband was James M. Smith and they married after 1960.

In 1920 the Bivens were residing in Lewis County, Kentucky. Talitha's husband Arnold was working as a teamster at a logging plant. Included in the household was Talitha's widowed mother Martha E. Hinds and five of Talitha's brothers. It should be noted that the household next door was headed by James M.
