Lewis Hine was enumerated as son at 127 Main Street, Oshkosh, Winnebago County, Wisconsin for the June 5, United States Census, 1880. He was noted as at school, born 1874 in Wisconsin and single as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are self Douglas H Hine, wife Sarah Hine, daughter Lola Hine and other Thomas H Bubb.[1]

Lewis W Hine was enumerated as son of the head of household at 80 Division Street, Oshkosh city Ward 7, Winnebago County, Wisconsin for the June 9, United States Census, 1900. He was noted as attending school, born September 1875 in Wisconsin and single as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household is head Sarah I Hine.[2]

Lewis W. Hine wed Sarah Ann Rich August 24, 1904 in Winnebago, Wisconsin. His father was listed as Douglass H. Hine and his mother Sarah I. Hayes. The bride's father was listed as Walter C. Rich and her mother Mary E. Pinning.[3]

Lewis Hine was enumerated as head of the household at 27 Grant Avenue, Yonkers Ward 9, Westchester County, New York for the May 11, United States Census, 1910. He was noted as born 1875 in Wisconsin and had been married five years. He was a photographer (consumer league) and a renter as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household is wife Sarah Hine.[4]

On May 6, 1918, Lewis HIne applied for an American passport. He swore he was born at Oshkosh, Wisconsin September 26, 1874 to father Douglas Hull Hine. He also stated his father died about 1893 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He intended to travel to France on May 22, 1918 for Red Cross work (photographer) as seen in this first page of the application. His description is on the following page and states he has a medium mouth with an oval chin, high forehead and black and gray hair. He had brown eyes and a dark complexion. His nose was large and his face was long and thin. Mr. F.R. McMurry stated he had known Lewis Hine for twelve years. His sister Lola Hine also gave an oath that she was at home at the time of his birth. Lewis Hine desired his passport be sent to 170 Edgar Lane, Hastings on Hudson. There is also a photograph of Lewis Hine on page two of the application.[5]

Lewis W Hine was enumerated as head of the household at 170 Edgar Lane, Hastings-On-Hudson, Westchester County, New York for the January 24, United States Census, 1920. He was noted as born 1874 in Wisconsin. He was married, an owner and a photographer (benefit organizations) as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Sara R Hine and son Corybon Hine.[6]

Lewis W Hine was enumerated as head of the household at 170 Edgar Lane, Hastings on Hudson, Westchester County, New York for the April 9, United States Census, 1930. He was noted as born 1875 in Wisconsin and married. He was first married at the age of twenty-nine. He was an owner and a photographer (art photography) as seen in an image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Sara Hine, son Corydon Hine and mother-in-law Mary E Rich.[7]

On April 1, 1935, Lewis Hine lived at 170 Edgar Street, Hastings-on-Hudson, Greenburgh Town, Westchester County, New York.[8]

Lewis Hine was enumerated as head of the household at 170 Edgar Street, Hastings-on-Hudson, Greenburgh Town, Westchester County, New York for the April 5, United States Census, 1940. He was noted as born 1875 in Wisconsin and widowed. He rented a home and was shown to be a photographer (own biz) as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household is son Corydon Hines.[8]

As listed in the Find A Grave Index,[9] Lewis Wickes Hine is buried at Ouleout Valley Cemetery in Franklin, Delaware County, New York, USA.[10]
