Troup was born in 1867 in Georgia. His parents were Benjamin Franklin Hines, Sr. and Martha Jane Griffin. He married Martha "Mattie" Bangs Newsome in 1892 in Taylor County, Georgia.[1] In 1880, they were living in Attapulgus, Decatur County, Georgia.[2]
By 1930, they were living in Bainbridge, Decatur County, Georgia.[3]
Troup passed away in 1933.[4] Burial was in the Oak City Cemetery, Bainbridge, Decatur County, Georgia.[5] He lies next to his wife and among other Newsome family members. His grave is inscribed: His life was one of acts of kindness and of love.[6]
