William married Nancy Jane Brown (born on May 16, 1859 in Kansas City, MO USA; daughter of Berryman Brown and Mary Jane (Persinger) Brown). Their known son was William Alonzo Hines (1880–1952).

William passed away on December 20, 1927 in Jamesport, Daviess County, Missouri, aged about 73. He was buried in Mount Zion Cemetery, Jamesport, Daviess County, Missouri.[1]
