Birth and Parents

Mary Jane Hines was born in 1819 in Maryland, the daughter of David Hines, and died 29 July 1892 in Baltimore. ^[1]

1845 Marriage to Rev. Augustus Webster

On 15 November 1845 in Baltimore, Augustus Webster married Mary Jane Hines. ^[2]

Augustus Webster (1807-1890) was born in 1807, the son of William W. Webster ((1782–1835) who died in 1835 in Harford County, Maryland. His mother was Mary Hollis (1783–1852) who died in 1852. ^[3]

Hannah Thomas, Servant

An entry in the Baltimore Sun on 28 November 1898 recorded the death of Hannah Thomas, colored, who had been a servant all her life in the family of Rev. Augustus Webster, pastor of St. John's Independent Methodist Church. Shew died 27 November at the home of her daughter, Margaret Smith, at 508 Oxford Street. Thomas was born in Frederick City and had been a slave in the family of Mrs. Webster. Aged 86 at her death, she was born about 1812. ^[4]
