John was born in 1855.[1] He is the son of Francis Hines and his wife Sarah Smith. John was baptized on 2 September 1855 in Elson, Hampshire, England.[2]
John's marriage to Elizabeth (Munden) Hines (1854-abt.1941) was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1883 in the Alverstoke district.[3] John Taylor Hines, 27, labourer of Elson, son of Francis Hines, pensioner, married Elizabeth Munden, 28, spinster of West Dulwich, daughter of John Munden, labourer, on 17 Apr 1883 in the parish of Elson, Southampton, England. They both signed their names. The witnesses were Frederick Munden and Jane Ann Avington.[4]
John died on 3 July 1922 at the age of 66[10] and his estate passed probate on 27 July 1942 (20 years later) in Hampshire, England.[11]

“This is the last Will and Testament of me John Taylor Hines of No. 2 Elson Cottages, Elson, Gosport, in the County of Hants 31st day of January in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Two …
:…my wife, Elizabeth Hines, the whole of my estate and effects, both real and personal for her life; and at her death, the whole of the estate and effects to be sold. The proceeds arising to be equally divided and shared among my children:-
