Biography

Elizabeth "Effie" Hinkle was born on July 29, 1865, in Cutler, Carroll County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Joseph Hinkle and Nancy Cook. She married William L. McCarty on July 2, 1885, in Carroll County. They had three children during their marriage. She died on April 5, 1949, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at the age of 83, and was buried in Frankfort, Indiana.

Mrs. Elizabeth Hinkle McCarty, who left Frankfort seven years ago to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Paul Stough in Ft. Wayne, passed away in a hospital in that city Tuesday at 5:30 a.m..

She had been ill 13 weeks. Born in Carroll county, July 29, 1863, she was married to William McCarty, who died several years ago.

Surviving are the daughter in Ft. Wayne and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah McDaniel, of Indianapolis and Mrs. Ida Trobaugh of Cutler, Indiana; Two sons, Ralph and Fred McCarty, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. McCarty was a member of the Frankfort First Methodist Church, also of the Electra Bible Class.

After 4 p.m. Thursday friends may call at the Goodwin Funeral Home, where services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. Dr. James Lawson will officiate and interment will be at Green Lawn cemetery.
