Michael, Jr was born in 1780, the son of Michael Hinkle and Rebecca Spurgin. He married Nancy Haggins about 1800. Michael was injured and died in 1814.
Michael was killed in Adair County, Kentucky shortly after the close of War of 1812 by a race horse, which he was riding, that bolted and ran under a low tree. He appears to be the Michael Hinkle in the 1810 census of the adjoining Pulsaki County. Michael and his wife born between 1784 and 1792; with a daughter 1800 to 1810; and three sons born between 1805 and 1810; After his death the widow, Nancy Haggins Hinkle, married a neighbor, Jacob Brumley and returned to North Carolina leaving several older children in Kentucky.
