Biography

Michael, Jr was born in 1780, the son of Michael Hinkle and Rebecca Spurgin. He married Nancy Haggins about 1800.[1] Michael was injured and died in 1814.[2]

Michael was killed in Adair County, Kentucky shortly after the close of War of 1812 by a race horse, which he was riding, that bolted and ran under a low tree. He appears to be the Michael Hinkle in the 1810 census of the adjoining Pulsaki County. Michael and his wife born between 1784 and 1792; with a daughter 1800 to 1810; and three sons born between 1805 and 1810; After his death the widow, Nancy Haggins Hinkle, married a neighbor, Jacob Brumley and returned to North Carolina leaving several older children in Kentucky.
