Skip, Thanks for the marker image and your comments about the cemetery and Lake Jocassee. I was privately contacted by another Hinkle researcher that this Silas did not have a middle name. I had originally marked his middle name as uncertain since it was based on a find-a-grave entry, but if we can find a source that supports his middle name, I can add it back. Thanks again. - Steve

Hi Steve,

I added a link to the replacement gravemarker for Silas in his profile. Given that Silas' profile was created with the middle name Dover and that his son (Hinkle-1055) is provenly named Silas Dover, I submit it may be that the son was a junior and named after his father. An alternative is that the name came from an honored grandmother or other ancestor but to date I haven't found one. The Dover name also appears in a later generation in this Hinkle line. ~Skip

Note that at this time, there are 2 Silas Hinkle find-a-grave entries that both have Winneford Nicholson as his spouse, but the entry listed here has his middle name as "Dover", but I believe is incorrect. The other entry is located at https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/65961189/silas-hinkle . I believe one entry is for a cemetery that was flooded and all the gravesites had to be moved, thus the second entry. If anyone has better info, please post it. Thanks.
