John was born in 1898. He joined up for WW1 when he was 18 years. His occupation was a Labourer. He joined the 11th Depot Battalion - 4th Reinf/52nd Australian Infantry Battalion - 2nd Rein/42nd Australian Infantry Battalion. He suffered Trench Fever (gassed) and was transferred from France to field hospitals and then to a hospital in Torquay in 1918.
John, or Jack as he preferred, served in the Australian Imperial Force during the Great War; enlisted 2nd March 1916, returned to Australia 20th December 1918.[2] He was a member of the 42nd Australian Infantry Bn.[3]
He married Kathleen Doris Moore in 1919 in Bundaberg Queensland.[4] He married Kath Doris Moore and had 4 children.
John passed away in 1969 in Brisbane, Queensland.[5]
