Lydia E. Hinkley was born 23 February 1865 in Fairfax, Vermont, the daughter of Frank and Lydia Hinkley. Frank was a farmer, b. Georgia, VT. Lydia was b. Highgate, VT. Theyblived in Fairfax. 
In 1870, the Hinkley family lived in Glover, Vermont. The household included Edward F. Hinkley, 44, a farmer, with $6000 in real estate and $1600 in personal estate; his wife Abigail, 46; Ellen M., 11; Albert F., 7; and Lydia E., 5. The three children were in school. All of the Hinkleys were born in Vermont. Also living with them was Lewis Gilman, 20, a farm laborer, born in Canada. 
Lydia E. HINCKLEY, 25, born in Georgia, Vermont, and a resident of Glover, VT. married Frank C. Sherburne on 15 March 1890 in Sheffield, VT. It was Lydia’s first marriage. She is the daughter of Frank E. HINKLEY, and (stepdaughter of) Abbie. The marriage was officiated by W. S. June, clergyman.  NOTE: the original spelling of her father’s last name was HINCKLEY, but over time, most of the members of their immediate family ended up spelling it HINKLEY. The rest of the extended family retained the original spelling.
