Alanson Hinkley was the son of David Hinkley and Hulda (Read) Hinkley.[1] According to the 1899 Hinds genealogy. he was born on 29 Mar 1795,[2] and according to the 1870 census, he was born in Maine.[3]
Military Service
Alanson Hinkley served as a private in Ryerson's Regiment of Massachusetts Militia during the War of 1812.[4]
Marriages
On 31 Aug 1822, the town clerk of Livermore, Maine, certified that "an intention of marriage between Mr. Alanson Hinkley & Miss Sarah Philbrick both of Livermore has been entered with me & published as the Law directs."[5] They married at Livermore on 1 Sep 1822.[6]
Alanson Hinkley of Rumford, Maine, and Salome E. Hinds of Livermore, Maine, published their intention to marry at Livermore on 11 Mar 1832,[7] and they married there on 26 Mar 1832.[2][8]
Children
The 1920 history of Livermore, Maine, lists Alanson Hinkley as the father of the following children, the first three with Sarah (Philbrick) Hinkley and the last four with Salome (Hinds) Hinkley.[1] All except for the first Ebenezer are shown living in his household in the 1850 Census.[9] The births of the last three are reported in the Livermore vital records.[10]
Alanson Hinkley died on 7 Sep 1887,[2] and is buried at the North Livermore Cemetery.[11]
