William Hinshaw[1][3][7][8]

Born Mar 1 1810, Tennessee.[3][7]

He married Mary Ann "Polly" Cunningham.[1][7][10] Mary was born about 1813, North Carolina[3]. To this union were born:

The Muster Roll of Captain Adrian Northcut's Company of 1836 shows William Hinshaw as a corporal in the war known variously as the Florida or Indian War. The 64 man company was enrolled for what was to be a period of six months, however five days later on Jun 18 1836, Governor Newton Cannon notified Captain Northcut that his Company would not be continued in the brigade at Fayetteville. With this word Captain Northcut then dismissed his Company to their homes to await further orders.[1]

William Henshaw was shown in the 1838 Tax List of Warren County, Tennessee.[11]

William Henshaw was again shown in the 1840 census, Warren County, Tennessee (page 345).[12]

In 1843 William Henshaw signed a petition to form the new Grundy County, Tennessee, formed from Coffee, Warren and Marion Counties.[13]

Mary Ann died in 1876.

He then married second, Mary Ann Huler, Sep 4 1878, Columbus, Hickman County, Kentucky[1][7]. Mary, daughter of James Layton and Martha Taire, was born Jan 19 1832, North Carolina[17][18][19][20].

William and family were shown in the 1880 census (Jun 11 1880), Ballard County, Kentucky:[20]

Allred, Jid [or Sid - unclear]. J., niece, age 3 months, born Mar [1880] in Missouri; parents born in Tennessee.
It is unknown who was the niece Jid/Sid Allred shown in the 1880 census above, but living nearby in 1880 were two Allred couples: Morgan Allred, 30, with wife Lenora [unclear], and Charles B. Allred, 35, with wife Fanny, [27][23].

William was shown in the 1900 census (Jun 2 1900), living in the household of daughter Susan in Hibbard, Mississippi County, Missouri:[24]

Hinshaw, William, father-in-law, age 90, born Mar 1810 in Tennessee; father born in North Carolina; mother born in South Carolina; married 21 years.

Mary Ann was shown separately in the 1900 census (Jun 4 1900), living alone in Carlisle County, Kentucky:[21]

Henshaw, Mary, head-of-household, age 66, born June 1833 in North Carolina; parents born in North Carolina; widow; no children; rented home.

William Hinshaw died about 1905, Mississippi County, Missouri.[3]
