Lucy Hinshaw was born on Oct. 14, 1827 in North Carolina. She was married to Andrew Jackson Essex. Their marriage license was issued on March 23, 1854 in Forsyth County, North Carolina. Lucy is listed in the 1850 census as living with her parents in Forsyth County, North Carolina. After her marriage she relocated with her husband Andrew to Indiana. Records show several of the Hinshaws moved westward to this area. Lucy is listed in the 1860 and 1880 census as living in Haw Creek and Harrison in Bartholomew County, Indiana. Lucy's death was on Sept. 17, 1891. Burial at Moravian Cemetery, Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana.
