He married Mary E. Macy, Jul 7 1861, Henry County, Indiana. Mary, daughter of Lorenzo D. Macy and Rachel Rogers, was born about 1842, Guilford County, North Carolina. To this union were born:
New Salem MM, on 25 Feb 1865, recorded "Nathan married contrary to discipline; Duck Creek MM asked to treat with him; Duck Creek MM reported him to be beyond their limits".
Duck Creek MM, on 23 March 1865, recorded "Nathan Hinshaw - New Salem MM requested Duck Creek to treat with him for marrying contrary to discipline. 22 June 1865 Duck Creek reports he is not in the limits of this meeting & New Salem MM so informed."
Nathan and family apparently moved from Howard County (New Salem MM) to Henry County (Duck Creek MM) sometime between 1865 and 1870. Nathan and family were shown in the 1870 census (Sep 20 1870), Greensboro Township, Henry County, Indiana:

Nathan R. Hinshaw died 1873, buried Greensboro Friends Cemetery, Greensboro, Henry County, Indiana.
