Hello, the info I have on the children is from the 1850 Jackson Co. Fl. census. The children are listed as,.

Lewis 22 yrs old.

James 21 yrs old.

Andrew 19 yrs old.

Mary 18 yrs old.

Abraham 16 yrs old.

Larkin 12 yrs old.

Rebecca 8 yrs old.

Jesse 7 yrs old.

Jane 6 yrs old.

Ellen 5 yrs old.

Nancey 4 yrs old.

Harrison Jr. 3 yrs old.

George 2 yrs old.

Joshua 6 1/2 yrs old.

Harrison is listed as 60 yrs old and Martha as 40 yrs old.

I have just gotten to the Hinsons in my research so I don't have much yet. I'm searching everyday. I'm not sure about Joshua, maybe he's a member of the family and not one of there children. I'm thinking this because of the ages of Jane & Jesse. I do know one thing tho, the old saying about being barefoot and pregnate applies here !. 1

Hi Jerry, I have not had time to look at the file you sent me but wanted to share some new information with you. I met a man in Georgia who has researched the Hinson family a lot and he told me Harrison Hinson, Sr was in the War of 1812. He enlisted at Hancock County, Georgia in 1813. This man has a copy of the Bounty Land Applications made by Harrison Hinson, Sr. Did you know that? I didn't. I am now in the process of working on this information. Will let you know if I find out anything else. Ann Robbins. 1

Kim, I descend from some Hinsons from NC. My mother was a Hinson. In my files, I have a Henry Hinson born "about 1826." He was the son of Harrison Hinson (b. 1790, Whiteville, NC) and Martha Wells. Harrison's father was James, b. in NC before 1745. Henry's siblings were Sam, Lewis, James, Andrew, Mary, Abraham, and Larkin. Dees any of this sound familiar?.

I decend from the James Hinson family of Robeson Co, North Carolina, (also Dobbs and Colombus counties have been mentioned) James's son Abraham was my GGG Grandfather. He was born in 1786 in North Carolina. He did have a younger brother named Harrison, also several other brothers, such as Aaron, Joshua, Jesse, and maybe a William. I'm not positive on that, but I do know he had a son named William Hinson, who was probably born somewhere on the move from NC to Georgia, to Ala, Dale county ala, Now Geneva, then on to Vernon Parrish La, some of his children went on to Trinity county, Texas. His son William, married a woman whose last name was Bass in Louisanna. Somewhere I have more info on this, I will look for it. Meanwhile. Do look in Gen Web, in Louisanna, for info on any Hinsons in or near vernon parrish . I'll bet you'll find something.

Best to you and yes we are all related. It is however confusing, since the same names tend to be.

repeated, and everyone seemed to have a mound of kids, all named the same thing. They are great however, check it out!!!.

Grand Ridge, Florida.

PS Abraham left three older children in or near Dale co, Ala in 1830 , one of them was my GG.

Grandfather, Nelson Hinson, his brother Abraham Hinson JR, and a sister, Susan who married Daniel Smith, decendants still in this area. 1

By 1860, it appears that most of the family have dispersed and Harrison and Martha are deseased. The Federal Census shows brother Andrew as 'overseer' and head of the house. Living with him at that time were, Ellen 18, Nancy 16, Harrison Jr 13, Joshua 11, and Emily 8. The census shows all of these born in Ala. However, the Fla census shows the Harrison on down born in Fla. And the 1850 census shows all but Nancy born in Ala.[atwell.FTW]. 1

The 1850 Federal Census shows that Harrison Sr. owned six slaves, two females aged 23 and 24 and four children; 6mos, 2,2, and 6. 1
