Biography

Frances was born in 1717. Frances was the child of George Hinson and Margaret Mozingo.

By her husband, Thomas Port (ca. 1713-1815), they had a daughter Rachel Hinson Port (ca. 1732-1823).[citation needed]

Some discussion on the daughter's Find A Grave: Memorial #59499033 suggests that Thomas' brother may have been the father of Rachel Hinson Port, but little evidence is provided to support the argument.

If the death date of 1815 is correct for this Rachel's husband, Thomas Port, it is very interesting that for the 1800 and 1810 census years, though alive, he is not in the household. This perhaps could explain why he is reported to have not made his children his heirs:

  1. By the 1800 census, Frances Hinson shows up with her married name of Port in Liberty, Marion, South Carolina.[1]
  2. She shows up in the same county in 1810.[2]

Frances passed away about 1812.[citation needed]

The fact that Frances (Hinson) Port is listed as the head of the household in the 1790 Census, suggests that her husband Thomas Port died before 1790
