Isham Hinson was born about 1809 in Mississippi, United States. He was the son of John Hinson. (His birth is listed as 1800-1810 in the 1840 census, 1817 Mississippi in the 1850 census.)
In the 1840[1] census, Isham is living in Pike, Mississippi. Isham is between 30-40 years old, married wife between 20-30, with one son.
In the 1850 census[2] Isham Hinson is living in Pike County, Mississippi, in the home of James Brock. Isham is listed as being 33 (?) years old, with son John, 12, daughters Elizabeth -7 (1843), Sarintha - 5 (1845), and James 4 (1846). It has been proposed that he first married Rebecca Brock[3], daughter of James and Elizabeth Purvis Brock. ( others propose Mary Jane[4]) Rebecca has been overlooked by many Brock researchers because she died before the 1850 census.
He then married, 30 November 1851 in Hinds County, a widowed cousin of first wife, Rebecca Brock, - Nancy Brock, who was married 1st to John Glascock. Nancy’s parents were William Brock and his wife Charlotte.
