Research Notes

Sarah Hinton is claimed on several trees published at ancestry.com ^[1] to have been the wife of Francis East and to have been born circa 1700, probably in Nottinghamshire. None of these trees have any sources to support any of these statements.

On the FamilySearch webtree ^[2] the same person is said to have been born in 1678 in Kingston, Jamaica, but that is probably the conflation of two different Sarah Easts in Jamaica - one having children in the ealry 1700s, the second in the 1730s.

There are two Sarah Hintons known to have been baptised in the period 1695-1705 in Nottinghamshire. One died an infant, the other was baptised in Bramcote 16 February 1698 ^[3]. She may be the same person as the Sarah Hinton who married Francis East, but there is no evidence to either confirm or refute the link between Nottingham and Jamaica.
