Research Notes

"We believe Sarah was a daughter of Thomas Hipkins and Cordelia Upshaw Hipkings (Hipkins) who were on Cockelshell Creek sometime before 1716... Thomas Hipkins died intestate but his will, dated September 9, 1739, doesn't name all of his children."[1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:

I think if you read all of the Upshaw documents, which includes wills:

Upshaw Family Journal, Vol. 3, page 21.

... you will find that Cordelia Upshaw (daughter of Col William Upshaw and first wife Susanna) was married to Thomas Hipkins - while Cordelia's half sister Mary (daughter of Col William Upshaw and 2nd wife Hannah Forrest Carber) was married to Samuel Hipkins.
