Biography

Dwight was born in 1903. He died of heart disease 1974. He married Virgie Yancy on 31 July 1920. He was a farmer and illicit whiskey distiller - and a Methodist. He completed the "Commercial # 4" course at Draughon's Practical Business College in June, 1928.

He married Virgie Yancy in 1920 and the couple had three children, James, Martha and Opal. In a reported drunken rage, in 1943, Dwight "run off" Virgie from the farm threatening violence. In about 1948, Dwight remarried Ethel who moved into Dwight's farmhouse with her son xxx. Ethel's son developed hydrocephalus at age 14 and died at age 15.

He met Ethel through a "Lonely Hearts Club" - written correspondence. He went to Alabama to meet her - she brought 2 brothers with her to visit/view his farm. He liked the brothers - Dwight proposed marriage that day - already had the license. She stayed, brothers went home to bring back clothes for her. She was a city girl - Dwight taught her how to cook. He taught her the rudiments of sewing, then he bought her a sewing machine. He quit drinking once he met her - she wouldn't let him see her if she wasn't dressed up and made up.
