Biography
Jennie was born in 1844. (1905 census)
Name
The name given in the 1905 census is Mah-Coo-Hun-Win-Kah, which is for Mąkuhąwįga, from mą, "earth, ground, soil"; kuhą, "under, beneath, below"; -wį-, A feminine gender infix; and -ga, a definite article suffix used in personal names. So Mą-kuhą-wį-ga, means, "Under the Earth," which could be a Waterspirit Clan name, since the mythical Waterspirits inhabit caverns under the earth. It could also be a Thunderbird Clan name, since rumbling thunder was said to be the Thunderbirds firing their lightning weapon under the earth at their enemies, the Waterspirits.
