Joseph while still a young man left the Presbyterians and joined the Friends. This greatly upset the family, they tried to turn him back but his brothers, Jonathan and Benjamin joined him. It finally ended up the entire family, including his parents joined the Friends.
The Journal below was written by Joseph Hoag, born 1762.
Children with Sarah Cape Norris: Mary (1704), John (1706), Jonathan (1708), Sarah (1711), Benjamin (1714), Judah (1716), Judith (1717).
Children with Easther Swett: Patience (1719), Elizabeth (1721), Moses (1723), Anna (1724), Mary (1728), Jedediah (1730), Ebenezer (1731), Theodate (1732), Esther (1734).
It's doubtful that Benjamin ever married Esther Johnson. No marriage record to Benjamin was found for her. The only child listed above who could be hers, if they truly were married, was Esther. Her older brother Theodate's birth record records Easter Swett as his mother. But then, Esther Swett seems to have re-married in 1737, and Esther Johnson seems to have had children with John Eaton well into the 1730's.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Benjamin by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Benjamin:
The birthdays for many of the children were off by exactly 11 years; others by less than that. They have all been corrected and put under the correct mother.
I'm wondering about birthdays for Benjamin's children. Both Mary and Moses are listed as 28 Jan, 1729. Assuming they were twins, but then Patience is listed as 26 Feb of the same year.
