Biography

Hannah Hobart was born on May 15, 1638 at Hingham, MA, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Ibook) Hobart.[1][2][3]

Hannah married first, John Browne of Salem,[4] son of Elder John Browne, on June 2, 1658 (sic) [2d. 6 mo =August 2, 1658].[5] John died before Aug. 10, 1677, when the inventory of his estate was taken. [1] [6] Widow Hannah was appointed administrator. [7]

She married second, John Rogers on Oct. 21, 1679 at Hingham,[2] as his second wife. John was born about 1640, son of John and Anna (Churchman) Rogers. [1] (p. 1347)[8] They had no children. [6]

In her father's, Rev. Peter Hobart, will of Jan. 16, 1678, he left bequests to my daughter Hannah Brown of Salem, widow of John Browne, deceased. [6]

On June 10, 1680, the children of Rev. Peter Hobart sold land at Hingham that they had inherited. The deed was acknowledged by John Rogers and Hannah, his wife, among the children. [6]

Hannah died at Bristol, RI on Sept. 11, 1691,[1][2]

In her will made June 9, 1691, [Bristol Co., MA, Registry of Probate] she is identified as Hannah Rogers. formerly Browne. now of Bristoll. wife of Mr. John Rogers of Bristol. [6]

After her death, John Rogers married third, Marah (Coburn) Browning. [1]

Notes

Several early texts including The History of Salem, MA; Essex Antiquarian etc. Have confused two John Brownes. One who married Hannah Hobart and one that married Hannah Collins. Some texts indicate that Hannah Hobart Browne died and her husband took Hannah Collins as his second wife. This has been disproved.

According to the Alden Silver Book, Hannah Hobart is the daughter of Rev. Peter and Rebecca (Ibrook) Hobart. (MD, 19:187-88) How certain are we of her mother and her father's wives? This woman has two sons connected called John. Why? (Presumably conflation of a non-spouse.)

Is this profile still a "merger mess" as Jillaine noted seven years ago?

Hobart-383 and Hobart-32 appear to represent the same person because: Same husband and father

She's got a merger mess "above" her. I'm leaving her be til others more familiar with her ancestry complete the merges "up river".
